Hey, I can SPELL "acetylene"!

But I can't get the valve on my new bottle of acetylene to open.

Counter-clockwise like a normal valve?

I'd hate to use an extension on the valve wrench and apply too much force in the wrong direction... Flaming

Looking forward to a frame-cutting session, I remain --

I think he is asking about the actual valve on top of the bottle, not the regulator connection.

oxy =  clock loosens     and some torch applications

gas = clock tightens

The answer for the Acetylene tank valve is "counterclockwise", just like the Oxygen tank.

The Oxygen and Fuel lines are threaded in reverse of each other so you cannot connect the wrong hose to the wrong bottle's regulator.

I am not sure, but I think that the Fuel lines (in this case acetylene) have "reversed" threads - or so it seemed when I replaced the gas lines recently.

So There!
