The HighRider is almost no more (except for a pile of parts in the shed...)

Here is what I did tonight (6-13-07):



After slicing (more like mangling...) the frame in two behind the center cross brace, I cut and fitted a replacement crossmember that the trailer's tounge will attach to.



A second crossmenber will be welded in place just in front of where the frame starts it's upward bend.

The tounge will attach to the bottom of these new crossmembers.

Cutting torches are FUN!

i may do my own design trailer.  i have several alluminum masts from sailboats and id like to build a light weight  flea specific trailer.

i dont want another 1 ton truck to haul my rig and rig and trailer around. i did that enough years with my eb's steel trailer and 460 ford.    glug glug glug glug gliug.

Yes, it's a Utility/Camping trailer.

Once I get a tounge on it, I'll start fabbing mounts for important stuff like my 5kW generator and a  stowage box for my MIG welder.  I'm working on an insetted shelf over the axle so that the fixed loads will be centered and the lighter, movable loads can be placed to maintain correct tounge weight.

But first, I must do some more cutting and welding!

I bought some scrap steel down at Metal By The Foot to play on...
