I got this in trade for some web design.  It is the screwiest looking Sammi that I've ever seen.
  • 4.3 GM Engine
  • 5 speed tranny and some kind of transfer case in the passenger's foot space?  Scratch Head  Anybody know what it is?
  • Calmini lift springs, what's with the coils?  Look at how they're held on!  Nail Bite
  • Non-Stock Seats  Smokin'
  • The tub is in great shape, except for where a branch must have fallen on the hood.
I don't know if it ever actually ran Driving, or it was aborted in the middle of a "build"(?) Wacko
What do you think?

The T-Case looks like a Dana-20.

It has too much body lift and it looks like they added the coil springs to support the extra weight of the engine. Not Sure  I'm not sure if it ever ran, and I am not sure if it should be run the way it is.  Its good for a parts rig or a good rig for a major rebuild to make it safe.  I don't want to be down on anyones work because I can understand trying to keep things cheep, but that rig looks like it could have a lot of problems. Nail Bite

Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do with it.

It looks possible to me, Hell its got everything there already, it just needs a little commen sense put into it. Just take a torch to those front spring mounts, put some real springs in there. Re-do that steering arm. Thats bout all i looked at. But good luck with it, Will that engine start???

Hey Cora, is that what your planning with the Driver side exhaust???

Hey Cora, is that what your planning with the Driver side exhaust???

I might be going that rout with the exhaust but I am not sure yet.  I will not be using the stock steering box, I will have a steering box that mounts to the out side of the frame.

I have all most the same setup, so I can understand very well what I am looking at with that rig.  I wanted to avoid a body lift at all cost. I am adding a lot of weight with the v6 and a body lift would just make the Zook that much more top heavy.   It is just my opinion, but I think that it is much better to go with a suspension lift with nonzook springs.  Neither the stock nor after market springs were made to hold up that much weight.

Don't get me wrong, I think that it is a good score and could be a great rig.  The engine, tranny, and t-case should work great in that Zook with some stronger axles.  I am not down on it at all, I just want to help others to see where they could have problems in the future.  I don't want to see anyone get hurt.  I have had people help point things out to me on my rig that I needed to change with the 4.3 swap that I am doing.

Keep us posted, I want to see what you do with it.   Peace

Phillip,
After looking at your pics, that looks like maybe an early 231 buick v6 tahat came in some Heeps. The transfer case definatly came from an early 73ish model Heep comando. Thay made the shifter different than other dana 20 and seem to work better this way. The motor having the distributer in front and the heads make it look like a buick motor. Maybe you can go on this info to better find out what you have. Good luck.............GARY

Thanks for the info, Gary (who's Phillip?).
The carb said GM on it so I figured the engine might be GM too.

Somebody needs to shut the lid and step away from the toolbox ! man, they had no clue did they ? it can all be fixed and you could have a nice ride with some work. those little buick v6's were pretty descent motors.

Yup, Thats the one I tried to warn people about.  He wanted $600. bucks for it at 4x4 land.  I offered $200 for parts but he wouldn't budge.  Good luck fixing it!  There are some good parts though.  Wanna sell the rear axle? Dunno

I'm torn between cannablizing it for parts, and making it run.  The components look sound.  I might have to smack myself in the head Hammer Head a few times, or get into a good drunk,  Bar Man so I can try to share the vision the original builder had.  Bouncy Smile
