Where from?

Is there a way to set this up where peoples location shows up? I have grown rather fond of that at ZK.

Yes, they need to fill out their "location" in their profile.
I see several people need to do this.
Oh, I just noticed, it doesn't show up in the "info box" to the left side of peoples posts....maybe we can make it so it does???....since I am too lazy to click on their "profile" button.

I haven't figured out how to do this yet, but I consider it absolutely necessary. I see that many of you are confused about where you live. Apparently, many of you are also confused about your gender too. Don't worry "your kind" is welcome here too [kiss][kiss].

If someone posts something outstanding, you can [applaud] them to show your appreciation. If someone is being an asshole, you can [smite] them to express your negative feelings. Privileges on the forum can be set to be affected by karma level. If used appropriately it can be useful, but it has the potential to become a circle-jerk.

I had to give you one Flea... your doing a bang up job here!
Isn't there a Video game out there that does this same type of thing? They don't call it Kharma. Oh yeah, the kids play it... it's called Maple Story.
Those kids will actually offer to pay (game money) for a positive rating and then log off without paying for it... lol

Zukikrawler uses a similar system called "Reputation", but it's positive only. It appears that having tits has a very positive influence.

Uhhh....no it's not.
Here is my take on reputation/karma.....it can be useful when used correctly (both positive and negative).....but it also gives the people that have no balls a way to tell you "Hey I think you are a dick....but I'm too much of a pussy to let you know who I am." (at least I don't know of a way to trace who the ratings come from). The way I see it, if you have something negative to say.....at least have the balls to let the person know who you are.

I stand corrected. The Zukikrawler "Reputation" system is both positive and negative. Maybe
TX_ZUKI
will chime in and tell us how it's working out.

"People that have no balls" should be allowed to express themselves without having to expose themselves to retrubution. One of the reasons for the karma is to give them an opportunity to do so. Those "with balls" don't need the karma, they express themselves openly, often to the point of inviting confrontation.

So what you are basically saying is.....people should not be held accountable, if they choose to publicly give someone a "negative"? It would be nice if people only gave other people "positives"....but we all know that isn't going to happen.
The way I see it....if someone has an issue with someone else, and they don't want the whole world to know about it.....PM that person and have an "off the air" conversation about it.....don't just give a bad karma mark and hide anonymously behind the keyboard.
If someone doesn't want to risk be confrontational....then they should go sit in the corner and keep their trap shut. The reality is, everyone doesn't have the same opinion about everything.....so yeah, when someone says (or does) something, 100% of people are not necessarily going to agree with it (kinda like this "karma" thing
). But hey, it's not my website....so maybe
I
should just go to the corner and shut up.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this whole "karma" rating thing works out. I see some people already have some negative marks against them. Personally, I haven't seen anyone say (post) anything that has deserved a "bad karma" mark. So the karma rating thing may just turn out to be more of a "novelty" than an actual rating system that can be trusted.

Yea, sure, that'll work.

The object is not to [smite] someone just because you don't agree with them. You should only [smite] someone if they're being an asshole about it, such as being disrespectful or stomping on others rights. Kids don't always play nice unless there's possible consequences for a failure to do so.
Positive karma should not be a popularity contest. If you read a post where the author has clearly gone out of his/her way to be helpful to others, give 'em a pat on the back with a click on [applaud].

Apparently I did. Maybe when a few stop screwing around, it will settle into something relatively useful. If you trust your fellow Zukers, and they take it seriously, it might work out. We'll see.

Hey guys Skihiranger is correct, our reputation rating is for positive and negative, I keep a good eye on when and why someone adds positive or negative reputation with only one person abusing it so I took that option away from them
but otherwise we really don't have a problem.
I think if you make it clear not to be abused you will be okay with it. I also find out of all the members we have only about 15 using it.

I agree with your statements above. I hope it does work out that people do give the smite and applaud for the right reasons. If they do, then the karma rating will have some meaning.

It is an interesting idea... I like being able to just click and not have to write a pm when the pm would sound lame... "oh yeah I really liked what you said"... lol speaking of circle jerks..... It will be hard to not want to just use it for fun.
