Hey guys Skihiranger is correct, our reputation rating is for positive and negative, I keep a good eye on when and why someone adds positive or negative reputation with only one person abusing it so I took that option away from them  Smiley but otherwise we really don't have a problem.

I think if you make it clear not to be abused you will be okay with it. I also find out of all the members we have only about 15 using it.

The object is not to [smite] someone just because you don't agree with them.  You should only [smite] someone if they're being an asshole about it, such as being disrespectful or stomping on others rights.  Kids don't always play nice unless there's possible consequences for a failure to do so.

Positive karma should not be a popularity contest.  If you read a post where the author has clearly gone out of his/her way to be helpful to others, give 'em a pat on the back with a click on [applaud].

I agree with your statements above.  I hope it does work out that people do give the smite and applaud for the right reasons.  If they do, then the karma rating will have some meaning. Cool

It is an interesting idea... I like being able to just click and not have to write a pm when the pm would sound lame... "oh yeah I really liked what you said"... lol speaking of circle jerks.....  It will be hard to not want to just use it for fun.

You mean like the sticky at the top of the "General Discussion" index?

Never seen anything like it on any other website however, I like the idea.
Zukikrawler uses a similar system called "Reputation", but it's positive only.  It appears that having tits has a very positive influence.

"People that have no balls" should be allowed to express themselves without having to expose themselves to retrubution.  One of the reasons for the karma is to give them an opportunity to do so.  Those "with balls" don't need the karma, they express themselves openly, often to the point of inviting confrontation.

The way I see it....if someone has an issue with someone else, and they don't want the whole world to know about it.....PM that person and have an "off the air" conversation about it.....don't just give a bad karma mark and hide anonymously behind the keyboard.
Yea, sure, that'll work.

The reality is, everyone doesn't have the same opinion about everything.

If you read a post where the author has clearly gone out of his/her way to be helpful to others, give A'em a pat on the back with a click on [applaud].

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this whole "karma" rating thing works out.
I feel the same way.  It was an option on the board, and I knew that Zukikrawler used a similar system, so I thought that I'd try it out.

I see some people already have some negative marks against them.  Personally, I haven't seen anyone say (post) anything that has deserved a "bad karma" mark.  So the karma rating thing may just turn out to be more of a "novelty" than an actual rating system that can be trusted.
Apparently I did.  Maybe when a few stop screwing around, it will settle into something relatively useful.  If you trust your fellow Zukers, and they take it seriously, it might work out.  We'll see.
  good say there Mr Adm.
