Where is the cheapest place locally to get the 8" weld-on pipe caps for making diff guards?

You get a weld on pipe cap, cut it in half, and weld it to the bottom half of the diff.....keeps from denting the front of the diff and pushing it back into the ring gear/carrier.

cool idea  i think. im looking for cheap diff protection that i can do while ive got the gears out next week.

this forum is perfect timing as im finaly starting to work on the flea.!!!!!

There used to be a place on the SW corner of 35th and Noland across the tracks from from the bank that sold stuff like that...  I think they only sell plumbing stuff for the home now, but they might be able to tell you where you can find those large caps.

I bought 2 weld caps a coupla years ago. I think they about $70 each from a piping supply co. Each cap makes 2 diff covers, so that made 'em about $35 ea.

That ain't real cheap, but I got 'em at Reeves-Wiederman Supply in Lenexa.
