Why does it itch????

« on: July 18, 2007, 12:35:56 pm »

tectafab, I am asumeing you have done this swap.

I have a 4.3 I want put in my forunner.  I want to use a chevy auto (th350 or 700r4).  The question is what did you do for a T-case?  Go with a chevy case or dana or stay toy?

I would like to stay toy and keep my twins. but the adapter for that is $$$$.

Just wanted to see what some options are.

Thanks

Where did you find them for that price?  The only ones I have found so far are 500 and up.

No, I have dual toy cases and would like to keep them but the adapter to go from a th350 to a toy case is pricey.

Are you using a 4.3 with a TH350 trans to dual toy cases?

This is the setup I would like to run.

What spline is your toy case and did your adapter to go from the auto to toy csae require you to change the output shaft in the trans or just bolt up?

The only adapter I can find to go from a TH350 trans to a toy case is from Downey an it is $500 plus and you have to have the output shaft on your trans swapped out.

Thanks for all your help flea.  If you were closer I would come check out your rig and lend a hand.

Flea,

I may have found a cheaper solution.  NP231/241 T-case froma chevy.  I can find a trans (w/ overdrive - 700r4) with case for less than $300 rebuild trans and T-case with 4-1 for a few $$$ and still be less money than above mentioned setup.  Plus a NP231/241 is really common so parts should be nothing to find.  I think this is the path I will be going.

I will have it rebuilt by a good shop with all the corvet servos and crap put in it to make it last.

The shop I take my trans to has about six lifted Heeps of all ages with 35 plus tire sizes and they are all running overdrive chevy trans with 4.3 or small block power in front so I am not worried.
