was wondering how hard it would be to put a sami front axle in a sidekick and still utilize coil suspension. anybody have any ideas or even done it? could you use the strut spring setup even. i know you would have to make modifications just curious on suggestions or ideas.

I haven't done it.  But there would be a few options for an axle swap.....you could run a link suspension, or a radius arm suspension, or a leaf spring suspension, you could probably retain the stock strut and coil spring set up too.  It just depends on which would be easiest for you to pull off.
I think a lot of guys swap in a toyota axle, if they are going to the trouble of a SAS on a trackick.  But you could use most any straight axle that has a passenger side diff.
Trail Tough makes a swap kit for swapping a toyota axle in with 4 links....but it is pricey as hell...I think around $3K....looks to be a nice setup though.

sorry i have not done either, but... seem to remember this topic on another site.  i think part of the reason no one does it much had a lil to do with the width of the sami axel, maybe mounting points?  something to look into.

You can do a solid axle swap in a Sidekick or Tracker easily.  The Samurai axle is narrow, compared to the Sidekick.  The best thing to do is keep things simple.  When you set up a Sidekick for a solid axle swap it sets the ride height for 33" tires.  I would go with a linked suspension with coils or nitrogen air shocks.  What are you wanting the vehicle to be?  Tire size, daily driver, hardcore?  Give me a call or PM.
