i have a 1989 suzuki sidekick the i mud a little. it has a stock 1.6L in it and when i hit a mud hole hard water flies into the engine compartment and she starts to miss like crazy. i know water is getting somewhere but not sure where. people say its in the distributer but i check last time and it was dry. is this a common suzuki problem? thanks

Here is the fix for your problem..........SLOW DOWN. Hammer Head

If you choose not to slow down, then more than likely water is getting to the ignition system somewhere and making it miss.  It could be plugs, wires, or distributor.....or possibly even getting into the wiring harness somewhere where there is a wire with some insulation missing and partially shorting it out (unlikely, but possible)  They make a waterproofing spray you can spray on stuff (wires and cap) to keep water/moisture from affecting it.
It could also be water getting into the airbox area and if a little water is getting sucked into the engine, it will cause it to miss as well.

you can buy that gel stuff at an auto store to put around spark plug wire boots, wire plugs etc. also.  i did that and would plow through 3ft of h2o in my 90 without any trouble, but i had a snorkel too.

Welcome to KC Zuks, speedracer119! Welcome

It's great to have a member so close to home.  Maybe you'll consider a post on our "Introductions" board?  Tell us more about your Zuk!

The "Technical Information" board is for information, not questions,  so I'm movin' it to "IFS Discussion".
