Maybe I'm weird... but I laughed!

Must be running open ended cause he sure had to mash the go peddle and I just didn't see it as that big of a challenge  Roll Eyes

I agree, I thought that the hill was pretty mild.  It appears that he got frustrated and just lost control backing down.  A heavy foot is a poor substitute for lockers.  I'm glad he's okay, but I thought that it was funny too.

Very well put!

While I think running open ended is a great way to learn to wheel ( It helps you develop skills like picking the right line etc.) there comes a point when modifications to your rig such as lockers and gears are the best way to up your game.

I've seen too many burned up clutches, busted drivelines, axles etc from wheelers trying to take on tougher obstacles by simply mashing the go pedal.

Lets face it... a $200 locker is much cheaper in the end!  Grin Wink Cool

Fer sure.   If your wheels aren't turning then you're not climbing.  If you're not climbing over an obstacle, then you're just ramming into it.  If you're got obstacles in front and in back, it's called "getting stuck".  A problem easily solved with lockers.

Regardless of the conflict and acrimony about lockers vs. open............

How the HELL did that rear axle get out from under that vehicle?

Just what gotta come loose/break to let that thing outta it's nest?

Ubolts? yeah. Shocks? yeah. Dshaft? mebbe. Brake lines? yeah. Holy shit? absolutely.

This ain't just a simple "OOPS".

from what i've read, he had it professionally built then decided he wanted to change something about the rear coil setup(mounts?). he did this part himself. obviously HIS welding skills need a little fine tuning.  Embarrassed  Cheesy

I have a wire feed welder now and am using it and learning as I go.

Until I get good at it though, the extent of my welding will be bumpers, rock sliders etc.

Anything really Vital like suspension will be done by a Pro!  Shocked Cheesy Cool

As for the hill, video or pics never do justice... I wheel pretty hard and we take video and pics all the time. They never look as steep or off camber as they actually are.

Yep, that is true.  I know when we use to take video of riding 4-wheelers, the video never made it look as steep as it was.  If you would tilt the camera about 10* into the hill, then it made it look as steep as it was.
I guess that is why they tilt the camera for the "action" shots in magazines....if you ever notice, the majority of the time the trees, bushes, etc. in the background of the pic, all grow at a somewhat-less-than-90*-angle. Wink
