So my grandson (he's 14) said he wanted his own Zuke to wheel with us.

Well, hell, why not. I got enuf junk around this place that I oughta be able to build the little fella sumpin. And learn him the ins and outs of tools, repair and fab work whilest we're at it. And end up with another wheeling buddy.

I got this old LJ20 body and frame that looks like it spent several years on the bottom of a pond. And I got an 800cc motor and tranny out of an LJ80. And I got this huge pile of parts....................

We spent saturday cleaning alla the trash and bird shit outta the thing and getting it ready to pull the body off of it next weekend.

What it looked like:

He's only gonna be able to work on it on saturdays, so it'll take a while.

Here's how it was at the finish saturday:

So we got it broke down and Dimitri took a wire brush and cleaned all the rust off of the frame.

Then we welded some frame extensions on and moved the front spring hangers 2 1/2" forward so's we could mount rear springs up front....

And the front springs are finish mounted. Had I not run short of spring bushings, we would have had the rear springs mounted. Not bad progress for a coupla Saturdays, methinks.

So, what are the plans for this truck.  DD, trail only, Huh?Huh?

What is the final wheelbase you are shooting for and what is the drivetrain going to be?

Just curious.  Thanks

Off-road only. Will be 77" wheelbase.
The drivetrain will be a 1979 Suzuki 800cc engine and 4-spd tranny, stock LJ transfer case and difs.
Transfer case low range is 3.013
Final drive diffs are 5.667
Gonna weld the rear side gears.
