Me and the babies, 60 and 80 lb pitbulls

« on: November 27, 2007, 08:07:07 am »

I guess the first thing I need to do is find out how to make my pictures smaller. Every time I try to post it tells me the file size is too large. Bang Head

So I am stuck just telling you of my journey thru my zuk build. Started as a hunk of crap, my kind of  building material. Got the kick cheap as it needed a clutch kit and a little motor work. So after three trips to autozone to get the right clutch kit, the installation was a breeze. And a new fuel filter had it running. Was oh so thankful it was not the fuel pump as they want more for that part, than I  paid for the whole car.
Next was a body lift. I had some 3 in. box tubeing laying around. So it is a 3 in. lift. Had problems right out of the gate. The bolts holding the rubber mounts to the body, were completly rusted thru where the go thru the body. 3 of the four that hold the tub to the frame.
So I cut the tubing into 4 in. peices. Drill a 3/8 hole thru one end. I bought some grade 8 bolts. Used the rubber mounts on the pieces of tubeing. Set the body back down. and I plan to weld the tubeing to the tub.
Right now I am crossing a few other hurdles. Had to extend the filler tube to the gas tank. I am going to make my steering linkage about a inch longer. MOved a brake line. Loosened the A C hose at the radiator. All pretty minor stuff.
Got a good deal on 4 american racveing wheels,Hell Cats. And 4 TSL super swampers,
36 X 12.5 X 15. With a very miminal amount out fender trimming I stuffed those fat assed tires on it. Yikes . I think it is functional the way it is. But not practical. So I am trying to find a way to get about 2 in. of lift out of the coil springs. Plan on calling K.C. Springworks today.
The interior is all stripped out. Got some spray on bed liner and I plan to spray from the windows down with the bed liner. If I can find some aluminum diamond plate would like to make door panels out of that. Need to extend the shifter handles. Get a good radio and speakers,Got to have my tunes Smiley
We will just see. How it ends up. Could use some advise on getting the lift out of those springs.

Thanks

Kelly

Oh yes the little brute motors. Headbanger Went out on the road this weekend, the TSL's suck on the asphalt. ESPEACIALLY icey asphalt Nail Bite Be that as it may I put over 200 miles on it. Got 13 miles per gallon. Could not use 5th gear. But did fine in fourth, say 60 miles an hour and pulled the hills pretty nice. Pulled to people out of the ditch. Had to stay in the grass to get them out.
The  bad news is noise. Between tire noise and the exhaust it is defening. It will get better, still have a few holes it the floor board to patch. And I would like to lay some kind of heavy rubber mat in the floor board.
The only trouble I had with tire rub was at high speed and hit a good bump or extreme articulation off road. Would like to get more suspension lift, just a few more inchs. Been saying that my whole life.  Do not think I can go any higher with out problems with axle angle. Hate to take off the 36s. It looks way cool.
Going to do a mig locker on the rear end next. It will spin one tire on the front and rear, and you are done, just sit there looking stupid. So the poor mans posi is in my future.

Still haveing problems with loading phots.
