I would really worry about the dry cell exploding.  The current in the circuit is the same at all points for a single loop circuit and that dry cell won't be able to handle the same current as the two lead acid batterys.  A 6 volt lead acid would probably work ok in the circuit.     Mel

drivetrain should be in 2 weeks after zk @DISNEY LABOR DAY

While it is true that the bigger the overall gauge of wire, the better......for the individal strands of wire, within the insulation, the finer strands are better.

well i have my 13th  zuk in the shop now getting yota axles rx-7 power plant on 36 swampers with a 105 w/band a 5 foot bed

That is correct.  By using stranded wire instead of solid wire, you create more surface area for the electrons to migrate on thus lowering the overall resistance of the wiring - or so they told me in electronics class...
