I don't think there's much difference between buying new gears or using Kick/Track fronts. Most Kick/Track front diffs have almost no use time on them.
Depends on what ratio ya want and what you can score at the junkyard/ebay/craigslist, etc.
I would advise against going lower than 5.12 in a Sammi diff, tho. The pinion just gets too small.
I've also, after thinking about what Skyhiranger said in another thread, reversed my opinion on always using new pinion bearings when swapping in Kick/Track gears. If the Kick/Track pinion bearings are in good shape and kept with their original races, I think they'd be OK to re-use.

Only trackick front gears/thirds will work in a samurai, the rear trackick gears/thirds are too big to fit.
