Hey Flea, here I am.  We have spoke a few minutes a couple of times over south of Topeka when you have been to 4X4 Land.  OK, my t-case shifter has started shaking,  I have stopped driving it don't want to tear up anything else.  Where can I find a used one?  Or, how hard is it to put in one of these rebuild kits looks mostly like bearings to me?  Keep in mind my mechanical abilitys and experience are limited.  Also I have found a 1.6 to drop in but do not know what all I need to make the swap.  Is easier to swap motor and tranny or just motor?   KNOW IT ALL at work tells me I will need the fuel pump a regulator and probably a whole bunch of other things I don't know about.  Does some one have a  list of what is needed?  Beginning to feel like I may be in over my head.  Any help, advice suggestions appreciated and needed.   Thanks to all

Welcome to KCZUKS.com Welcome  Flea is not here.  The people here are Zukers.  You could put an post on the "Wanted" board for a t-case.  Maybe you need a shifter sheet.  Yeah, the rebuild kit is mostly bearings.  Not too bad to put in.  We all started with limited mechanical abilities and experience.  We are close enough to help each another.  Give a yell, and we'll give you a hand. Applause

You don't need the tranny for a 1.6 swap, just the complete engine and the entire wiring harness, computer and all.  You can buy conversion kits from a number of vendors.  Mostly an engine/tranny adapter plate and motor mounts.   Best to forget the fuel pump which is in the tank.  You can get an external one cheap.  I've got a 1.6 I want to swap in too.

Thanks for your response Phoenix.  I have been researching since then the wiring sounds like it must not be easy.  Trail Tough charges $300 to color code and redo your own harness to make things work, makes it sound tough to me.  This may not happen till income tax time, looks like it will be sitting awhile.  Gotta come up with money for T-case first, so I can plow about 300 ft of drive this winter.  What is a shifter sheet and what does it do?   Your 1.6 a 16 or 8 valve?  The one I am suppose to get is an 8 valve.

I'd sure check the driveshafts and u-joints really close before blaming it on the Tcase.

The above is my opinion. It is subject (like all my opinions) to debate, disagreement, rude gestures, and loud raspberries.

x2  Do you know how to check to see if your u-joints are in phase?

Yup, I've been under it push, pulled and twisted everything.  I will do it again though, may of missed something.  I am pretty sure they are in phase,  been driving it for a year and a half, replaced 2 u-joints last winter.          Thanks for the ideas though
